Scaling Up—The Future of Suffolk Signs
Why We’re Investing in Professional A3+ Sublimation
Since we started Suffolk Signs, our mission has been to keep the spirit of vintage advertising alive through high-quality, handmade timber panels. With over 62,000 items shipped, we’ve learned one thing: our customers value detail, durability, and authenticity.
To stay true to those values as we scale, the workshop is undergoing a major upgrade.
The Sublimation Evolution
While we have a long history of producing large-scale panels—often well beyond A3+ dimensions—we are always looking for ways to enhance the detail and longevity of our designs. Our next major step is moving into a high-end dye-sublimation workflow.
To power this, we’ve brought the Epson EcoTank 8550 into the workshop. It’s a fantastic printer, chosen specifically for its ability to produce high-definition, vibrant transfers at an A3+ scale, which is essential for the intricate Motorsport and Vintage Advertising collections we have in development for 2026.
Standing By for the Final Piece
The printer is here and ready for action, but it hasn’t been integrated into the production line just yet, the printer is only half the battle. We are currently waiting to finalise the "heart" of the setup: a professional-grade heat press.
Because we work with timber and thick MDF, we can’t rely on hobby-level gear. We need a press that provides the consistent, vertical pressure required to pull those vibrant inks into the substrate perfectly. Once that final piece of the puzzle is in place, the first run of Suffolk Signs sublimation panels will officially begin.
We are currently in the final stages of selecting a UK-based equipment partner to anchor our workshop. We’re looking for a professional-grade swing-away press that can handle the rigors of high-volume production while maintaining the "Gold Standard" finish our customers expect.
What’s Coming Next?
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing:
The Setup: A look at our new sublimation suite.
Material Testing: How we will achieve that perfect "aged" look on modern treated MDF.
New Collections: Large-format signs that were previously impossible to produce at this scale.
We’re excited to take you along on this journey. Whether you’re a long-time collector or a fellow maker, stay tuned—the best is yet to come.
